A lovely little 1930s evening jacket - luxurious yet comfortable! It is simply styled for the most part, open in front, tying with a soft bow at the neck. The long blousy sleeves end in double rows of ruching.
Price reflects some minor condition issues - please review Condition Report and closeup photos.
SIZE: No size label. Bust measured from underarm seam with 5" overlap in front.
Measurements | Inches | Cm |
Bust | 38" | 96.5 |
Shoulders | 15" | 38 |
Bottom edge circumference | 47" | 119 |
Length | 29" | 73.5 |
Sleeve length | 24.5" | 62 |
FABRIC/COLORS: Inky black velvet, silky and soft to the touch. The jacket is so well made that I do not have access to a fabric edge for a fiber burn test, so I don't know for sure whether it is silk or rayon. The lining is off-white and silky to the touch. Fur collar is creamy white and very soft. The fur is short in length with no guard hairs. The previous owner believed the fur was ermine - I used closeup photos to consult with my colleagues at the Vintage Fashion Guild, who felt it was more likely to be rabbit.

CLOSURES: There are narrow velvet ties at the neck
CONDITION: I have repaired two small areas of open seaming under the arms. The fur collar has a few small areas of visible deterioration of the underlying skin - see closeup of most noticeable area. The fur is a bit worn along some of the collar edges - see closeup. The lining of the jacket is a bit dingy, especially inside the cuffs - see closeup, as well as a closeup of a small pinkish stain inside the left upper placket. No odors, and the velvet is in excellent condition.
