Preparation
To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry) and free from all defective or poorly adhering material such as efflorescence, dirt, grease or wax.
- Laminates or powder-coated metal should be lightly abraded before applying Dulux Trade Super Grip Primer.
- Where necessary, surfaces should be rubbed down using a suitable abrasive paper and then dusted off (refer to your COSHH Assessment). Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
Application
Always follow the manufacturers instructions found on the tin, it is recommended that a small test area is applied before painting the entire surface to ensure compatibility.
- Do not apply in temperatures below 8°C.
- If there is direct contact with water in the area, for example shower enclosures, or there is heavy or frequent condensation, a solvent based primer must be used. (This water based primer is not suitable for these areas.)
- Stir well before use. Apply one coat prior to finishing with the appropriate Dulux paint system.
Thinning:
- Brush, roller or airless spray - not required.
- Conventional spray - up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint
